Project Phoenix is a not for profit organisation that provides theatre workshops for former child soldiers. The team at Project Phoenix includes, musicians, dancers, teachers, circus performers and more who are dedicated to providing a safe and exciting environment for the children and young people to grow, explore, and envision the future they can have. The team holds workshops with the young people that culminate in a production for the community, including family and village members. The aim of this gathering is to help break the stigma surrounding these young people and encourage the reintegration process to occur from both the young people’s and the communities’ direction.
In mid April 2015 the Project Phoenix team are travelling to Lira, Uganda for four weeks. We will be holding workshops with the Children of Peace Uganda, a not for profit organisation dedicated to supporting the transformation of children of war to children of peace. They understand the power of truth telling, compassion, and forgiveness in the pursuit of a peace filled world.
If you would like to learn about joining the team you can read more here. We are looking for theatre work-shoppers, actors, directors, theatre techs, fund-raisers musicians, and more!
